Where We Share Smiles!

Meet the Staff

diane

Diane

Office Manager

"Working for Dr. Wheelock is an honor. He is as kind and caring a practitioner as he is a kind and caring boss.”

Diane has been working hard as our office manager since 1992. She has a wonderful sense of humor, and is the backbone of Wheelock Orthodontics.

Diane and her husband, Allen, are the proud parents of their daughter, Amy and son-in-law Jon, and their son, Walter Allen. They are even prouder grandparents of their wonderful grandchildren, Rowan and Reese. Diane shares her home with her two toy poodles, Little Man and Lady. Her favorite hobby is shopping for Rowan and Reese; and she admits that it is something she is very, very good at!

Donna

Donna

Accounts Coordinator

“I enjoy what I do. We all work together as a team. Dr. Wheelock is a kind and witty person and is very good to his staff. He's a fun person to be around and that means a lot.”

In a competition of who has been here the longest, Donna has us all beat. She's been working with the practice since 1981! She loves working with our patients, and is always happy to see those familiar smiles come through our doors. She feels blessed to work with such a wonderful team, and looks forward to many more happy years to come.

When she's not busy answering our patients' insurance and account questions, Donna enjoys spending her free time with her fiancé, Allen. She likes gardening, Victorian homes and cross-stitching, in addition to being very active in her church's choir.

Amanda

Amanda

New Patient Treatment Coordinator

“Dr. Wheelock is great to work with because of his patience and all the things he has taught me about orthodontics. The greatest part of my job is meeting the patients and getting to know them.”

As a member of our team since 1993, Amanda welcomes new patients to our office. She is very knowledgeable when it comes to orthodontics, and is always able to answer any questions that our patients may have. Amanda enjoys working in orthodontics, and seeing how something as simple as a smile, can change our patients' lives forever.

When Amanda is not busy greeting our new patients and their families, she looks forward to spending time at home with her two boys, Christopher and Benjamin.

Valerie

Valerie

Scheduling Coordinator

“I love what I do. It's so rewarding to see the changes that occur within our patients, not to mention all the great families we have! The kids are so much fun to get to know throughout treatment.”

One of the friendly voices that you hear on the other end of the phone  belongs to Valerie. She's been part of the team since 2003. She has an energetic personality, and is always ready to help our patients whenever they have questions or need to schedule their appointments.

Valerie and husband, Dave, were married aboard a cruise ship by the ship's captain while in the Caribbean in April of 2011. Avid animal lovers, the two have their own furry zoo at home; a couple of  kitties, a "pit-bull" terrier mix, and a dwarf rabbit. They also are volunteers for the RVSPCA, whether walking dogs or just cuddling with the puppies and kitties. An enthusiatic reader, Valerie can usually be found curled up with a good book and a furry critter or two. If it's football season though, she can only be located in front of a TV, cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

Stephanie

Scheduling Assistant

"There are a lot of great things about working in orthodontics. I like the variety of age groups that come through.  I also like being able to see the changes in our patients as they progress through treatment."

Stephanie joined the practice in October 2011 as the newest member to our team. As the other friendly voice on the phone when you contact our practice, Stephanie is always willing to answer questions or help you schedule that next appointment.

When not manning the phones with a smile, she enjoys spending time with husband, Matt and their son, Mason, watching movies, traveling and enjoying the company of friends and family. They also have a Bichon Frise, Sebastian, who "claps" on command.

Jennifer

Jennifer

Clinical Coordinator

“Dr. Wheelock is wonderful to work with because I feel like I have a voice in our practice and that my opinion counts. I feel empowered to make decisions, which is great!”

Meeting wonderful people and making a difference in someone's life is what Jennifer feels makes her job worthwhile. With her gentle, reassuring personality, Jennifer has been with our practice since 1998. She feels that orthodontics is a great field to be in because of the hands-on nature of the job and being able to connect with her patients on a personal level.

When she's not changing wires and adjusting brackets, Jennifer spends her free time at home with her husband, Russell, their two children, Brandon and Bryant, and Schnauzer, Skeeter. She has a fond spot for jet skies and the lake and they often pack the family up for camp trips. During the year, the boys sports involvement certainly keep them busy!

Brooke

Brooke

Clinical Assistant

““I love the feeling of making people proud of their smile, as well as the fast paced environment, and meeting so many interesting patients each day.”

Brooke has come to work each day since 2006 with a readiness to encourage and support her patients throughout their treatments. She loves the challenge of orthodontics and when it comes to working with Dr. Wheelock, Brooke has nothing but praise for his knowledge and expertise.

When she's away from the practice, Brooke enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and the most important men in her life, husband, Mike, and nephews, Noah and William. She can often be found at the lake soaking up some sunshine.

Keri

Keri

Clinical Assistant

"I would definitely have to say that working in orthodontics is the most interesting career possible."

Wheelock Orthodontics welcomed Keri to our practice in 2008. No stranger to the dental field, Keri worked in dentistry for over five years before coming to Wheelock Orthodontics. She has a friendly smile and an enthusiasm for her work that's hard to match. She loves sharing stories and smiles with her patients, as she makes sure that they feel comfortable and welcome during each appointment. Don't be surpised to hear her break out in song!

In her spare time, Keri enjoys meeting new people, hanging out with friends and family, and playing with her precious "fur-babies," Gabbie and Maggie.

Holly

Holly

Clinical Assistant

"I enjoy the challenge that orthodontics bring. Every patient is different! I love seeing the changes along the way."

Always enthusiastic, Holly brings a lot of energy to our practice and to our patients.  She joined us at Wheelock Orthodontics in 2003. After a brief hiatus three years later, when her son Gavin was born, we were happy to announce her return in 2008. She's always cheerful and upbeat, and helps make our practice a great place for patients of all ages. Holly enjoys working with our patients, and being able to share the joys of a beautiful smile with others.

When she's not at the practice, Holly is usually thinking up creative new things to do with her son, Gavin.

mistie

Mistie

Clinical Assistant

"The relationship that is built with the patients and parents watching a patient grow and finish treatment is so rewarding."

Joining us in 2010, Mistie is certainly not new to orthodontics. She was born and raised in Roanoke, but spent a few years in Austin, Texas where she got involved in the orthodontic field.  When not sharing her smile with patients, she enjoys spending time with her son and daughter, Robbie and Diamond, and their 23 pound Siamese, Boogey. She also enjoys camping and spending time with friends.

Brittany

Clinical Assistant

"Seeing the smiles on the patient's faces when they are getting their braces off is the best part of my job. It lets me know they are happy with the work we have done for them."

Brittany started working with us in January 2011. A quick learner, she was a great addition to our staff! When not taking photos or repairing loose wires, she spends time with family and has a special affection for doing crossword puzzles. She and husband, Chris, were married in August 2011.

Lori

Lori

Lab Coordinator

“My co-workers are fun to be around. We are always laughing and smiling while we work!”

Lori is our lab coordinator. She works hard fabricating many of the appliances that we use, and she gets each set of braces ready for our new patients. Lori has been with Dr. Wheelock since 2003, but has worked in the dental field since 1989. Though she works mostly behind the scenes, Lori's engaging smile charms even the most anxious patients!

After work, Lori enjoys spending time with her children and her new grandbaby. She also likes many outdoor activities, like camping, and is always up for going shopping!

Melissa

Melissa

Records Coordinator

“In my job, I get to see what each smile looked like before braces, and what they look like afterward. The transformations are incredible and inspiring, and I love being a part of everything!”

Melissa's enthusiasm and energy is hard to match! She has been with our practice since 1999, and we're happy to have her working with us. Melissa enjoys helping patients keep track of their progress with photos and x-rays.

When she's not at work, Melissa is very busy at home with her husband, Dave, and their five children. Melissa is always doing something, whether it's running the kids around to their activities, or practicing sign language.

wendy

Wendy

Insurance Coordinator

"I love everything about my job: from my different job duties to the wonderful people I work with and the patients that I get to talk to everyday!"

Wendy has been a familiar face at Wheelock Orthodontics since 2001. After working many years as a clinical assistant, it was time for her to fill different shoes in our practice. She now helps our patients' insurance companies get all the paperwork necessary to process our patients' insurance claims.

She and husband of 11 years, Jerry spend their time with children, Ashley and Brittany, granddaughter, Amberlyn and Yorkies, Schnoodles and Tinkerbell. She also enjoys shopping and going to VaTech football games. When not at work, Wendy claims her favorite thing to do is lay around in her pjs, snuggling with her fur-babies.
